Pablo's Vice
Crn Crown and Goulburn Sts
Surry Hills, Sydney
Between the street art, record stores, and quaint terrace houses of Darlinghurst lies Pablo’s Vice. An iconic café that has been treating its locals with delicious food, hot coffee, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere for over 18 years.
Arriving at 11am was the perfect time as you are spoiled for choice with both the all-day breakfast menu, and the lunch menu to choose from. If you’re not looking for a long meal, the large takeaway window allows you to grab-and-go.
After being welcomed with a warm smile, our coffees came promptly (much appreciated on a cold July morning!). Ordering took us a while as there was so much to choose from. We then decided on a mix of classic brunch food and some not-so-traditional choices.
Off the breakfast menu we selected the mushroom toastie. A spin on the classic cheese toastie that included sautéed mushroom with smashed avocado, cheddar cheese and Dijon mustard, toasted on fresh sourdough bread. The flavours worked together perfectly to make the ideal brunch sandwich.
Our second choice was the Pablo’s Beef Burger, an unusual choice for brunch, but an iconic menu item that we had to try! It was the perfect burger with American style cheddar, a lightly-seasoned organic beef pattie, caramelised onion, crispy maple bacon, baby spinach and sweet gherkin pickle with aioli and house made tomato relish on a soft milk bun. It was obvious that everything that made up this burger was fresh, making it such a delicious treat!
On the side we again chose off the lunch menu and went for onion rings. These came out hot and fresh. The perfect onion-to-batter ratio, dipped in aioli.
Our entire experience at Pablo’s Vice was wonderful, from the cheerful staff, to the quaint décor, to the tasty food. We will definitely be back (maybe a little later next time to enjoy their new liquor license alongside the food!)
The Two Contessas dined as guests of Pablo's Vice. Thank you to head chef Michael, and Musab, Saf, Thomas, Josephina & Thi for taking care of us! Special thanks to OmptyMedia for arranging this visit.
