Pho Mo
378 Pitt St
Haymarket, Sydney
If you like Pho and you live in Sydney than we are pretty sure you have heard of Phomo. Their popularity has springboarded since their first restaurant opened in Barangaroo and they have now opened a new restaurant in Pitt Street, quite close to Haymarket.
We arrived for dinner on a weeknight and although the place was buzzing, we managed to find a table upstairs. The space is functional, the atmosphere is relaxed and the space caters well for both larger groups or more intimate catch ups.
Although Phomo is famous for Pho, their menu is quite diverse with lots of options to cater for many tastes. We started off with the Salt and Pepper Squid. It was golden crispy, with just the right amount of seasoning and piping hot, a sure sign it was prepared fresh when ordered. This dish didn’t last very long.
We quickly moved on to some rice paper rolls. We chose the Pork and Prawn but there a few options available including vegetarian options. The rice paper rolls were huge, generously filled with vermicelli, fresh veggies and lots of pork and prawn. They were seasoned with Mint and Coriander and served with a sweet peanut sauce. We absolutely loved them.
Next up some we tried the 6 spice Crispy Skin Chicken and boy are we glad we did. The chicken was perfectly cooked and sliced to perfection. The meat was so tender, it was melting in our mouth. We highly recommend this one.
Last but not least, we had some Pho (how could we leave without trying some?). WE had the combination beef Pho and absolutely loved it. The broth was bursting with flavour and the beef balls and brisket were a great addition to the flat rice noodles and fresh herbs. This dish will have Pho lovers coming back for more.
And we’ll definitely be back. Phomo in Pitt Street impressed us with its delicious food, great service and relaxed atmosphere. If you have been there yet, we highly recommend you pay them a visit soon.
The Counts dined as guests of Pho Mo. Special thanks to Cam for arranging this visit.
