Road To Goa
Mona Vale Rd
St Ives, Sydney
There's some good Indian food across Sydney these days, but Road To Goa is certainly very good. This place has been around for ages, quietly building up a strong reputation for good food and service in St Ives.
We started with some poppadoms and a trio of dips. It was a lovely way to commence our meal - and we just couldn't resist those crunchy poppadoms - their so addictive!
Our starter was nothing short of amazing. The papadi pakodi chaat was lentil dumplings topped with herb yoghurt, tamarind and crispy wafers. It had tang. It had bite. It had textures and it had so much flavour. This was a killer dish.
Our first main course was prawn panjim. This fragrant dish was made from tiger prawns sauteed in fresh garlic, mustard seeds, onion and snow peas. It had plenty of colour, even more flavour and no shortage of plump juicy prawns.
With one prawn dish we needed something different so veered towards chicken. To satisfy Mlady's never ending desire for ginger we - or she - chose the ginger and lemon chicken. This was made from herb marinated chicken breast pieces, smoke roasted in the tandoor then pan cooked in creamy lemon, ginger, yoghurt and red peppers. This was another lovely dish that disappeared completely - every last drop.
We of course had some rice - which was nice and fluffy. This soaked up the curry so well - as did the naan bread too - a must have with Indian food.
Road To Goa - find that road and go there! This place has lovely food. It's popular and well rated for a reason - for many reasons in fact!
