Bloom – The Healthy Food Co
118 Prince Albert St
Mosman, Sydney
This lovely place is a nice find in a suburb full of cafes. Decorated with rustic timber décor, flowers and fruit, it is warm and inviting as we enter. There is a display counter containing healthy sweet treats with labels describing their content. Vegan and gluten free choices are highlighted. As with the food menu, the emphasis here seems to be on informed and healthy eating.
There is nice shady outdoor dining but we decide on an indoor spot and ordered a coffee and a juice blend. The blackboard lists all the fresh fruit and vegetable options for guests to create the blend of their choice. Dame J was very pleased with her orange and pineapple combo. The coffee was good and strong.
We started with a special of the day – Corn Fritter Stack from the breakfast menu. Breakfast is available until 1pm but there are several items available all day. It was choc-full of corn, with tomato relish, avocado and a beautifully poached egg on top. What a great combination and so tasty too! The lemon slice was a nice touch.
The lunch menu looked very appealing and we chose two dishes, the first being Slow Cooked Lamb Soft-Shell Tacos. There were three on a board with kale and cabbage slaw, pickled onion, orange, feta and a chipotle aioli drizzled on top. The crunchy slaw went well with the tender and juicy lamb. All the flavours combined well and we did enjoy this dish. Yum.
The second lunch item we chose was the Italian Farmhouse Salad. It was full of chopped tomatoes, celery, pickled onion, crispy sourdough croutons, parmesan and soft boiled egg. There was plenty of crunch and goodness in this dish and we added the optional coconut poached chicken. The chicken was lovely and moist with a good flavour. Healthy and heavenly.
All the servings were generous so there was barely room for a shared dessert. From the display counter, we decided on the vegan Raw Cheesecake. This was an intriguing tangy lime cashew cream on a salted pecan base, topped with raspberries and triple nut crumble. It was delicious and we both loved it.
Bloom is open every day from 6.30 am until 5pm. The staff here are friendly and helpful and "Those Dames" really enjoyed our visit. Thanks to Hannah and the team for looking after us so well and to April from CPM Online Marketing Solutions for the invitation.
