The Satang empire has continued to grow in Sydney CBD with the addition of Satang Thai Infinity @ V Bar. This location has changed hands a several times over the last few years but judging by the crowds here now, Satang will be around for a while. Yes there are a lot of Thai places in the area, but Satang does it well.
We started with some very tasty gyo gai. These were crispy wonton sheets filled with marinated and herbed minced chicken and a side of sweet chilli sauce for dipping purposes. They were beautifully crisp, plump and delicious.
A more traditional starter of spring rolls came next. The crispy pastry gave way to a tasty vegetarian filling that all went well with the sweet chilli sauce that was with them.
The dish of the day was without a doubt the crispy chicken with Penang sauce. What a combination! The chicken was in a big pile. It was lovely and crisp on the outside and beautifully moist and tender on the inside. Then there was the rich tangy Penang sauce slathered all over it. It was such a great dish that we will certainly return for!
While chicken and cashew nuts is a staple for many, we decided to step it up by having prawns instead. It was an interesting mix with the sweet prawn meat and the nuttiness of the cashews. Again, it was another huge serving too.
Our final main was the pad mama kee mow. This noodle dish had sweet soya bean sauce, egg, chilli, garlic, chilli sauce, peppercorn, finger roots basil and Chinese broccoli. It was a massive serving, as always, with plenty going on in the dish.
The rice came served in the cutest style - as bears with ears. It’s a different way to get rice out and looked great.
Satang Thai Infinity @ V Bar is a great addition to the food scene in and around World Square. They serve great Thai food in big quantities and at decent prices as well. It should be around for a long while.
