Tim’s BBQ Kitchen
6 Florence St
Hornsby, Sydney
It was a dark and stormy night - always wanted to start a piece with these words and finally they are available and true! It really was bad weather and we were at Hornsby looking for some dinner. We knew about Tim’s and it was close so it seemed an easy choice. Unsurprisingly, due to the weather it wasn’t busy either.
With it being a BBQ place we weren’t surprised to find duck pancakes on the menu. We had to have these. They come in a serving of four and are a little bit different to other places as they have a very big chunk of duck on each pancake rather than thin slices. They were tasty and the meat was tender and juicy too. Sir loves duck and was very happy with these.
We like salt and pepper squid and we also like salt and pepper prawns. They had both here but also a dish with both. Perfect! It was again a big serving with plenty of prawns and squid. The seafood was nicely cooked with a lovely golden coating and nice tender meat. It had a bite to it too so be prepared!
Our other main was the shredded beef in Peking sauce. It’s another favourite of ours when we want to indulge a little. This was a massive serving with nicely crisp battered beef strips coated in a tangy sauce. We struggled to finish it all as it was such a big bowl!
Of course we had some boiled rice as well. We also had a nice rose as it was BYO.
Tim’s isn’t a fancy place but the food is tasty and comes in decent sized servings too. It’s worth a visit for a simple tasty meal.
