THE SQUIRES LANDING - THE ROCKS, SYDNEY

The Squires Landing
Norther End Overseas Passenger Terminal
Circular Quay Way
The Rocks, Sydney

For million dollar views of Sydney - the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Harbour Bridge whilst eating delicious North American style food (with a growing menu too) - The Squires Landing at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at The Rocks ticks all these boxes.

The venue is impressively located and the picturesque surroundings are simply breath-taking. With 270 degree views - this really is a showstopper. Be prepared to take a few pictures the first time you visit! The Squires Landing has a real WOW factor that you can enjoy regularly.

There is a working brew-house which produces beers and one of Mlady's favourite - James Squires  Porter - lovely! Of course she had one of these. As you walk up the stairs you  see through a window pork being sliced, this certainly whets your appetite.

To start with we had Crispy Skin Free Range Pork Belly and the Coffee Cured & Smoked Duck Breast. Now these are two of Sir's favourites and he thoroughly enjoyed these. Both entrees were beautifully presented. The pork was such a great dish. It was cooked perfectly with a lovely crispy crunchy top and soft and juicy inside.

The duck breast was divine. Great flavours and loved the salt baked beetroot. All the ingredients complimented so well together.

We did indulge in quite a few very tasty beers each - which went well with our delicious meal. The beers were cool and refreshing and straight from their impressive on-site brewery.

For mains - Sir had Rib Fillet 300g and Mlady had Barramundi with Crispy Skin. Sir said that the steak was beautifully cooked - medium rare - and extremely tender. It was a nice cut of meat that had great flavours. The subtle mushroom sauce went perfectly and he devoured every last drop. .

The carrot and mash - WOW - so uniquely presented - and so yummy. Love a good "mash" and the whole dukkah crusted carrot was delish!

Of course there was always more house-brewed beer to be had - so we had it!

The Barramundi and it's oh so good crispy skin was next and Mlady loved the crispy skin! The sauce too - was so flavoursome. This was a great, tasty and hearty dish. Mlady thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful of this.

Our "Bit on the Side" was a salad of Tomato, Labneh, Pomegranate, Mint, Vincotto. This was pretty as a picture. The different types of tomatoes with their various colours and sizes gave this dish a wonderful diverse taste. Pomegranate too, with it's great crunch and dynamic colour is a wonderful addition to salads. And lets not forget the labneh which acted like a thick dressing and contrasted so perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed this.

At the risk of shocking you - there was again more brews from their brewery to try. It wasn't a difficult task though as it all tasted so good!

Surprisingly, we did manage to fit in dessert and had the Banoffee Pie. This was just too pretty to eat - but we did anyway! It was a very impressive dessert and it tasted as good as it looked. It had a lovely crunchy crumble. This is one of the prettiest desserts - with the yummy ingredients "spilling out of a terrarium".

To complete our impressive cuisine we had a Pedro Ximenez. Two words can only describe this - "Liquid gold". Oh yes - "Divine" is another. If you haven't had this delicious Spanish Sherry before you are missing out!

The food at The Squires Landing is impressive with good quality ingredients. The beer from their brew-house is excellent. To sit with spectacular views, eating amazing North American inspired fare, sipping on a beer - magnificent!

Sir and Mlady dined as guests of The Squires Landing. Huge thanks to Chris the Restaurant Manager for looking after us, being such good company and taking the time in explaining their approach. Thanks also to Rose for looking after us. Special Thanks to Baden from Res Publica for this invitation.
