Thai Break
Level 3 Uppper, Macquarie Centre
Herring and Waterloo Rds
North Ryde, Sydney
As it was cold and has been raining on and off all day we felt like a spicy dinner to warm us up. After much discussion on where to go we decided on Macquarie Centre and ended up at Thai Break.
Thai Break is casual and you order at the counter. The menu is quaint - with pictures and numbers against them where you turn the menu over and see the corresponding dish against it’s respective number. Not all meals have pictures with numbers but a good selection of them do.
Sir loves money bags (don’t we all!) so we had a serving of these. They arrived in a serving of three so Mlady kindly let Sir have two. These really were nice. They had a lovely elegant light crispness to them with a nice delicate filling. The sweet chilli sauce was well paired with the money bags too.
We each ordered a main. Sir chose Coconut Lime Prawns. This consisted of King prawns sauteed with sweet chilli jam, lime juice, coconut milk, ginger and garden vegetables. There were actually quite a lot of prawns in the dish too. The subtle sauce was also delicious.
Mlady had Gang Panaeng (Red Curry) and she chose to have this with beef. The menu described this as - a sweet an tender curry cooked with coconut milk and basil. This was a slightly spicier dish - just what she wanted!
Both mains were fragrant, had wonderful aromas and tasted so good. Love the way the rice is presented on the plates - a nice symmetrical dome. How good is it - to soak up the tasty sauce with the rice! Lovely! The mains were substantial and we both thoroughly enjoyed them.
Our drink of choice was ….. ginger beer - unusual for us yet very refreshing.
The food here is good, very flavoursome and it arrived quickly. The menu is varied with good combinations. There is plenty to choose from and there is also a board with Chef’s specials.
