Redforno Pizzeria and Bar
157 Redfern St
Redfern, Sydney
The aroma as you walk in to Redforno is amazing – all that delicious mix of flavours coming together – it makes you hungry! There's something about that smell that drives our senses wild - and this place does just that!
Redforno is located on a busy strip in Redfern Street. The staff are very friendly and the ambience is rustic/industrial, with a concrete wall and exposed lights. You can sit inside or out and they also cater for take-away.
Reforno is licenced so we had a glass each of red wine and this went very well with our meal.
To commence we had had the Reforno Salad – Songino salad, cream cheese with herbs, walnuts and pears. This was such a pretty salad – and was artistically presented. The pears were placed round the bowl framing the goodies. It was a lovely fresh crisp salad and the walnuts which are a “soft-ish” nut but still crunchy combined so well with everything. The drizzle of balsamic completed the dish. To accompany the salad we had a serving of light pizza bread. This really was light – and so ‘more-ish’. You just wanted to keep eating this delicious bread.
The pizza we chose was the Sila pizza – porcini, Italian sausage, tomatoes, fior di latte and gorgonzola.
When the pizza arrived it sat appetisingly high on its stand and – it looked so tasty and the aroma was mouth – watering. The base of the pizza was sensational – this is because the type of flour that is used in their pizza dough is made from durum wheat and has been used for centuries in Italy. This was a seriously good pizza. From the base up to the scrumptious top. We thoroughly enjoyed this!
For dessert we shared an Affogato Adulto – with alcohol. The coldness of the ice-cream – yum, then pouring the liquid onto the ice-cream – yummo!
We also shared a Tiramisu – made from scratch it stated on the menu. This was truly a work of art. A delicious generous serving presented on a board, garnished with cream and completed with an ample drizzle of chocolate and topped with coffee beans. Positively divine! It was so light in texture with an amazing flavour. Was a shame to have to share it.
