Coffee cat is a cool café right in the heart of Bondi Junction. Its situated in tiffany plaza which is really close to the train station. The décor is very modern with a photo of their mascot, Chase the Cat on their wall, and lots of cool lighting installations around it. The tables and chairs are tastefully arranged and there is even a bookcase with some books and newspapers available (perfect if you have time and want to relax with a book while you enjoy your coffee).
We arrived on Saturday afternoon for late lunch and one thing we noticed straight away is that this place is POPULAR. A line of people waiting to grab their take away orders, customers at tables and a string of Uber, Menulog and Deliveroo people waiting to pick up orders. We instantly got excited.
If you like coffee then you are in luck here at the Coffee Cat. They serve Campos coffee here and let us tell you, any café that serves Campos coffee means that person behind the machine knows what they are doing. We ordered a long black and we were not disappointed.
We also noticed some milkshakes on the menu and decided to try one. The Vanilla milkshake was huge, it had chunks of silky vanilla ice cream in it and even boasted some swirls of chocolate throughout, just to give it that extra amazing taste. We absolutely loved it.
On to food now and whilst Coffee Cat is known as a modern Australian café with an Asian twist (and don’t get me wrong, we absolutely love Asian food), we decided to go with more classic brunch items.
The breakfast burger was a mountain of amazing flavours with a huge Wagyu beef patty, bacon, a hash brown, cheddar, you name it, its got it. It also had this Japanese style mayonnaise which just tied everything together beautifully. We enjoyed the burger with chips and although the chips are optional and you need to order them separately, we highly recommend you get the chips, because, they were also amazing.
We also tried the big breakfast, which was so big, it could feed two people and that’s a lot coming for us, as we love our food. This dish had everything you would expect from a big breakfast and more. Fluffy eggs, bacon, sausage, halloumi, hash browns, tomatoes, buttery mushrooms that were like clouds and of course toast.
Coffee cat definitely impressed us. Their coffee and drinks are tops, the food is delicious with interesting combinations of flavours (think awesome Japanese mayonnaise in the breakfast burger) and the staff were really friendly. It won’t be long till we are back to try more of their menu items.
Coffee cat is open 6 days a week for breakfast and lunch and twice a week for dinner too.
