BBQ King Restaurant
76-78 Liverpool St
Sydney CBD
If you're missing the old BBQ King that used to be on Goulburn Street, fear no more, because their new store is a stones throw away over on Liverpool Street. It's much bigger too which is even better news! Of course they have their great BBQ favourites as well. We started with Beijing Roast Duck pancakes. In fact we had quite a few of them - they are just so moreish!
San choy bow - or lettuce cups as they are called here - are a tasty starter. The sweet meat filling contrasts nicely with the crispy lettuce. We all indulged here.
Some chicken and cashew nuts as well as some greens added to our table selections and also disappeared quickly in our small group. Both arrived fresh, hot and tasty.
Calamari is a known weakness for most of our group so this became a must order dish. The crispy golden rings were done so well and we probably should have ordered two plates of this judging by the enthusiasm in eating it!
We couldn't come here without having some roast duck. It's one of the signature dishes of the place. Mind you, we would have probably ordered it anyway as we all love roast duck! It was a big serving and it was delicious.
Crispy shredded beef is another favourite. It's one of those dishes that always tastes better at the venue rather than as takeaway, as it keeps its crispness. It was a great version of the dish here and the sauce was deliciously tangy.
Whilst the entrance off Liverpool Street is smallish, don't hesitate. Go in and you'll discover a larger space inside. The food here is worth travelling for too!
We're so glad that BBQ King has moved to bigger premises. It gives us so much more space to drop by and visit.
