Pho Sam Vietnamese Noodle House

It was a cold day followed by a cold evening and we really craved something to warm the bones. Sir suggested laksa - although his enthusiasm highlighted that this was really more than a mere suggestion. It wasn’t a hard idea to sell though. We looked around online and settled on getting some take away. Once we got past the really really long name, Pho Sam Vietnamese Noodle House was the destination chosen. We ordered and headed off for a pretty quick pick up time frame. We decided on some lemon grass garlic chicken wings as a starter even though we knew laksa is generally very filling. They just sounded too good to resist and it turned out to be a good choice. They were very tasty!
On to the main deal - the laksa. Sir ordered the king prawn laksa. For take away this comes in two separate containers. One was a bowl that had the noodles, tofu, veggies, prawns and toppings like dried onion and shallot slices. The other was a container that had the curry soup. You just get in home and add the soup to the first bowl. The volume of soup was well calculated too and took the level in the bowl right to the top but not overflowing. It was a delicious laksa too with plenty of filling and great flavours. It had a nice cold weather kick to it too.
The meal of choice for Mlady was the vegetable laksa. Again, this came in two separate containers. One was a bowl that had the noodles, tofu, loads of veggies and toppings like dried onion and shallot slices. The other was a container that had the curry soup. We got home and added the soup to the first bowl. This time there was actually more soup than the bowl could hold but a careful pour helped avoid a flood. It was spicy, tasty and very filling.
The servings here at Pho Sam Vietnamese Noodle House are big. They’re also very tasty too and good value. They have two places, one here in Epping and another at Lane Cove. It’s a simple place that’s well worth trying.
