Charmed By Hanuman Thai

Thai on a cold night - sounded good to us so - we headed out to Charmed By Hanuman Thai in Wahroonga for a meal. It has a really good reputation and is constantly busy as a result so we’d booked just to make sure. It was a good decision.
We’ve been eating a lot of “bites” lately and Mlady made the call to have an entire meal of starters. This was made even easier by the good range available. The Charmed Sampler has two pieces of four different starters. This was an easy first choice. It had spring rolls, fish cakes, chicken satay skewers and steamed dumplings. They were all great. The spring rolls were plump and packed with filling. The fish cakes were beautifully tender, the chicken skewers were delicate and tasty and the dumplings were excellent.
Soft shell crab isn’t always on a starter menu, but as it was here it was another easy selection. We both love this and it was done so well with a delicate crispy coasting over juicy tender crab. It was quite a decent sized quantity too for a starter.
Sir loves the crunch of money bags. Here they’re called Golden Bags and they come filled with chicken, corn, peas and spices all served with plum sauce. They were so beautifully crunchy on the outside they exploded when bitten. The filling was great too and it all went nicely with the sweet chilli dipping sauce.
Even though we’d already ordered spring rolls, the idea of duck spring rolls sounded very appealing. We caved in and ordered these too. They arrived standing tall in a glass jar. They were long and thin and went well with the sweet chilli dipping sauce.
We grabbed a few drinks. They’re licenced here and there’s a smallish but decent list. Mlady went for a red and Sir grabbed a beer.
There’s a lot om offer here on their menu. The main courses all looked good too and there were some interesting variations on the standard Thai dishes. It’s certainly a menu we’d be happy to explore more into the future!
Charmed By Hanuman Thai impressed us. The food here is very good. It’s fresh, tasty and varied. Thry have a good range and it’s all at very decent prices too.
