P. J. Gallagher's Irish Pub
The Entertainment Quarter
1 Bent St
Moore Park, Sydney
Pub food offers so much more than it used to. Here at P. J.'s they're smack bang in the Entertainment Quarter so if the standards slip the foot traffic will slow down. We were there during the day when it didn't coincide with any big events so it was blissfully quiet around the whole district.
We were really just dropping in for a quick beer on a warm day but once we saw the menu we decided to grab some sustenance as well. Mind you, the beers arrived first, as expected, and certainly hit the spot and made it difficult to leave anyway.
Mlady went to her food of choice and ordered a burger. The Wagyu beef burger had plenty on it including Jack cheddar, aioli, lettuce, tomato, gherkins and smoked tomato ketchup. It also had a good side serving of chips. She was very satisfied with this big and tasty serving.
Sir soon discovered his eyes were bigger than his stomach - quite an achievement really - when the pulled pork footlong he ordered arrived at the table. It was indeed that big. The roll was packed with pulled pork and topped with tangy slaw. He tried his best to finish it but was really struggling towards the end. They certainly don't skimp here!
P. J. Gallagher's here is a big place that clearly gets big crowds in. There's downstairs and upstairs areas inside and a massive outside beer deck area under the shade of trees. On a fine day the outside area fills very quickly.
We've been to a few P. J. Gallagher's Irish Pubs over the years and always found them good. You get great atmosphere, plenty of nice beer choices and good, tasty and hearty food as well. We've always left satisfied.
