Mama's Buoi

We felt like Vietnamese and decided to go to Crows Nest. Choosing to go to Mama's Buoi was an excellent choice. The menu was extensive and they had a special's menu from which a waiter recommended the crispy omelette - should we feel like something a bit different.
After some deliberation we decided to take the recommendation and ordered from the Specials Menu - The Crispy Omelette, which we had as a main dish.
Our small plates to start with were Tiger prawns (coconut wrapped tiger prawns served with kaffir and coconut lime sauce) and Viet style salt and pepper squid (squid tossed in mama's secret spices - Viet style). These were both so very tasty. The plump Tiger prawns had a wonderful crispness and were a very good size. The accompanying sauce was so good and to dip the yummy prawns in - lovely!
The generously sized Viet sized salt and pepper squid was so tender. Loved the sauce which had a really good kick. The salt and peeper squid sat on a salad that was also so flavoursome and had a nice kick too. This really was a yummy dish.
Our main was the Crispy Omelette - crispy omelette with handpicked blue swimmer crab meat, flying fish roe, tamarind chilli paste, chives and shaved bonito. How good was this! Such lovely flavours, so fragrant and so incredibly delicious. We both loved this. It really was so good that a lady at another table saw this, asked us what it was and when we told her, she ordered it too.
The food at Mama's Buoi is fresh, flavoursome, fragrant and absolutely delicious.
We will be back to try more dishes from the menu here - or at another of their venues.
