Mamas Buoi
Harold Park Tramsheds
1 Dalgal Way
Forest Lodge, Sydney
After Crows Nest and Surry Hills, Mamas Buoi has now opened a new restaurant in Tramsheds. Mamas Buoi is funky, cool and has brought all of their well-known deliciousness with them.
In case you were wondering, Tramsheds is Sydney’s newest food destination near Harold Park in Glebe. Its European food hall style is the perfect host for Mamas Buoi’s modern and edgy look. With a mixture of large and small tables tastefully decorated, Mama’s Buoi is the perfect venue for any occasion.
We started our evening with some Margaritas and here at Mamas Buoi they serve Frozen Margaritas. They are a refreshing take on a classic cocktail and for those keen on a healthier version, you can enjoy your frozen Margarita mixed with Kambucha. We loved both types and had multiple of each.
The menu at Mama’s Buoi is perfect for sharing and really does showcase the best Vietnamese cuisine has to offer.
We started with some pulled pork pancakes served with pineapple, pickled carrots and honey which gave them a hint of sweetness but created a pocket full of yumminess as we took each bite. These didn’t last long.
We then moved on to some delicious salt and pepper squid which was golden, crispy and mixed with some amazing secret spices, unique to Mamas Buoi.
This was quickly followed by some crispy coconut tiger prawns which were served with Kafir lime and coconut dipping sauce. Both dishes were outstanding, fresh and full of flavour.
Still on our starters, we also enjoyed some succulent roast pork belly. The meat was so tender and juicy it literally melted in our mouths. Time for some mains though and we started with an eggplant dish served with smokey chilli, garlic and basil. It was such a beautifully prepared dish and it tasted great too. The combination of spices brought the flavour out just perfectly.
We also enjoyed Mama’s Buoi special crab fried rice which is topped with a soft fried egg. We love fried rice and this one here certainly impressed us.
Next we tried some meat dishes, because although we really enjoy vegetarian food, we are true carnivores at heart.
The chicken curry was truly homemade with lovely aromatic lemongrass and vegetables, creating a warmth that soothes the soul as you eat. The Beef, called Mamas beef as it’s a bit of a specialty here at Mamas Buoi, also had beautiful aromatic lemongrass flavours and was stir fried. Both dishes were so flavoursome, we kept on adding more rice on our plate to scoop up all the yummy sauce.
We finished our amazing food experience with a delicious Vietnamese coffee crème brulee. Flamed right in front of our eyes, the caramel crust was crackly, sugary and amazingly awesome.
Mamas Buoi ticked all the boxes for us. It has delicious food, great service and a funky atmosphere in a really cool setting. If you like Asian food then you definitely need to pay them a visit. You won’t be disappointed.
The Counts dined as guests of Mamas Buoi. Special thanks to Meredith from WasaMedia for this invitation.
