You walk out of OSSO knowing that you have had a really good meal! It was certainly busy when we arrived and with their varied menu and very generous servings we could see why.
We commenced our meal with Mlady uncharacteristically indulging in a Mocktail - Sunset Punch. This really was a lovely refreshing drink with great flavours. It consisted of cranberry juice, lemon juice, sparkling apple juice and orange juice - all layered. Sir opted for an alcoholic drink - a red wine - Shiraz. It was listed on the menu - Andrew Seppelt "Serine" Barossa Valley. This was a lovely drop.
Mlady being quite partial to hamburgers went for the OSSO Double Cheeseburger - bacon, vintage cheddar, tomato relish, pickles. With a hamburger you know it's going to be a great hamburger when you just can't wait to get your hands on it and this hamburger was no exception. It was SO incredibly good. She loved the bacon, loved the meat that was cooked to perfection and loved the vintage cheddar. To put it simply - Mlady loved the lot!
Sir ordered for his main - 500gm OP Rib eye on the bone (marble score 2) mustard, vine ripened tomato. Sir's 500gm OP Rib eye was cooked exactly to his liking - medium rare and he said that it was a lovely cut of tender meat. It was huge and not for the faint hearted - bring your appetite. Despite it's size he managed to finish it as he did not want to waste any of it. They only bit that was left was the bare bone.
Oh my gosh when the meals arrived - it was certainly a case of - how appetisingly delicious does this all look! The menu stated that - Included with meals - all meals served with fat chips with aioli and your choice of rocket, pear and walnut (gf) or Caesar Salad for the table.
We chose the Caesar Salad. Dipping these crispy chips - in the tasty aioli - nice.
The Caesar Salad was a nice accompaniment with our mains. It was crisp and fresh with a good supply of croutons and bacon bits - they don't skimp on the good stuff here at Osso!
We did manage to (just) fit in dessert. Mlady chose the baked ricotta and lime cheesecake - Muscat infused chocolate ganache, blackberry coulis and brandy cream. The presentation of this was absolutely divine. This gorgeous dessert was sitting on a "slate" plate with a delicate dusting of icing sugar in a picture of a "cow". It was so unique. This was a great tasting dessert and the texture was amazingly light. Such a great Muscat infused chocolate ganache - yum!
Sir chose - Chocolate Cherry Ripe Tart - chocolate ganache, drunken cherries and chantilly cream. This was a beautiful rich dessert that was yummingly (is this a word?) tasty. Again the presentation on the slate plate showcasing this visually appetising dessert was lovely.
Sir and Mlady dined as guests of OSSO Steak and Ribs.
Special thanks to Billy our waiter who took such good care of us and also thank you to Caron our waitress who also looked after us and took time out from her busy schedule to chat with us. Big thanks to Trina for arranging our visit.
