For delightful, divine and delicious food with a Japanese/French twist - Plage is the place to go.

We started our evening with a nice red each. Sir had 2015 Kingston Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Mlady had a 2014 Heidenreich Old School Masters Cabernet Merlot of which we both enjoyed.

Our first entree was Smoked cod cream with squid ink wafer. This tasted as elegant as it looked. The squid ink wafer was so crisp and how good was the smoked cod cream. A beautiful tasting entree - a unique experience.

Next was Salmon tataki - Spiced yoghurt, daikon radish, kale. This had light fresh delicate textures and flavours. Nice crisp crunch with the kale and daikon. The radish contrasted perfectly with the salmon.

We then had Scallop sashimi - Burnt butter powder, Konbu and Mascarpone, Dill essence. This was a "soft" entree - no crunchy bits. Again light delicate flavours. It was so soft and so smooth. Delicious.

Changing from a seafood theme we then had Wagyu carpaccio - sliced mushroom, pumpkin seeds in a Dashi soup. You can see when the Dashi soup is poured - the beef literally cooking before your eyes. The soup is like a broth - it was so tasty. We both enjoyed this dish.

Then we had the Ricotta and thyme gnocchi - Caramelised cauliflower, Porcini emulsion, Brussel sprout. When this arrived - the aroma was amazing! Oh and it was so pretty. An absolute divine dish. Such great flavours - yum!

We had pan-fried market fish which was Mulloway. It came with celeriac puree, Jerusalem artichokes, finger limes. This was a lovely light dish and the fish was cooked perfectly.

The last main dish was Roasted Kurobuta pork - Black soubise sauce, eggplant, black pudding. This was cooked so well. Beautiful soft pork combined so well with the black pudding that had an amazing taste and crunch. Lovely cooked eggplant. All combined so well.

We did manage to fit in dessert.
Pear tart - Juniper berry and short crust, salted maple ice cream. It was like a deconstructed pear tart. The short crust just melted in your mouth - so soft. Loved the pear and that salted maple ice-cream.

Next we had  the Mirin sweet Sake ice cream, miso crumble. Very smooth ice cream. Nicely complementing with the very fine miso crumble. The Sake flavour was "just right". A truly gorgeous tasting dessert.

Lastly we had the Caramelised white chocolate - Nectarine Sorbet, chamomile. This was so pretty with the cute flower. It was "bursts" of summer flavours with a great taste sensation. The flavours were unique and it was creatively presented.

The food at Plage is good - really good. The flavours are elegant, delicious and unique and the presentation is a work of art.

Sir and Mlady dined as guests at Plage Restaurant. Special Thank you to Tomo and Yuki for looking after us and  taking time to chat with us.
