Post Café
274A Marrickville Rd.
Marrickville, Sydney
Doing a spot of shopping at Marrickville we came across a beautiful building which used to be the Post Office but is now a café. We did notice that the actual Post Office was in fact outside, behind this lovely old establishment.
Needing some well earned sustenance for us to continue on with our retail therapy, we sat inside on one of the comfy lounges and browsed the menu. There was a good selection to choose from and Sir decided on the Goats Brekkie. This was toast dazzled with extra virgin oil, scrambled eggs with goats cheese, shallots and tomato chutney. It was a substantial serving and looked appetisingly good. The eggs were lightly scrambled and very delicate. In contrast the tomato chutney was quite tangy and provided a great contrast to the eggs.
Mlady eyed the Light Sweet Munchies menu and went for the Fruit Salad with yoghurt and honey. This was a very colourful dish which was also substantial. It had big chunks of fruit and a big dollop of yoghurt with the yummy honey drizzled over it. Honey and yoghurt are such a good combination. Combined with fresh fruit - delicious.
Both ordering coffees with our brekkies, Sir had his usual skim flat white and Mlady had her usual, weak soy cappuccino. These were both nice drops too.
The Post Cafe is a lovely venue to sit relax and grab something from the menu, which has plenty there to choose from. On the back wall is a picturesque mural which showcases how the building looked in yesteryear when it was the Post Office.
