Rashays Top Ryde is a comfortable casual restaurant that has cosy relaxed spaces for the grown ups as well as a play area for children. It’s such a good idea for families to help keep the kiddies occupied. Because its a big place that sprawls out, there are also plenty of areas for a quieter meal too. The food and drinks are tasty, hearty and great value.
The menu has lots of tasty meals to choose from and having the pictures of the food helps with your choice as you see what you are getting. Mind you, with so much to choose from it’s important to look carefully. You never know what you’ll find that grabs you!
Our group of four started with some drinks of course. Mlady went with a favourite, a large cool refreshing Lemon Lime and bitters. Sir - no surprises ( being a rum fan) - had the Berry Watermelon Mojito. It has fresh watermelon and strawberries with Bacardi rum served on ice and topped with fairy floss. This was a really pretty drink that also tasted so good.
Duke chose the indulgent Tim Tam Rashake. This had Arnotts Tim Tam biscuits blended with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and a Tim Tam. It was such an impressive looking drink piled high with goodies and Duke loved it..
Duchess went with the Lychee Crush. This cool drink had lychees blended with mint and ice and she really enjoyed her refreshing drink.
We decided to order a mix of entrees to share. Again, there are plenty of choices. As we all love pizza, we decided on zaatar and cheese pizza. This is a hand stretched base with zaatar (a Middle Eastern spice mix) and mozzarella cheese. It was nicely cooked arriving hot and golden at the table and we all eagerly devoured it. The unique use of the spicy zaatar went really well with the pizza.
Arancini balls are a bit of a fave and ‘go to’ for us all so we didn’t hesitate to order them. These were deep fried risotto and mushroom balls with Parmesan cheese and tomato relish. They were a really good size, they held together well and had a lovely earthy taste. A quick dip in the relish added some tang to the flavour mix.
Another old friend are chicken wings, so we couldn’t go past them. These were simply described as Wings Smokey BBQ served with Ranch. These were delectable and finger licking good. The sauce was tangy and so tasty
What to have for mains? There were so many wonderful choices. After much deliberation we made up our minds. Mlady, a big fan of seafood, had Barramundi with salad. The fish was topped with a very tasty fresh herb chimmichurri. It came with a side of tartare sauce and chips. The “barra” was perfectly cooked and Mlady loved it. She enjoyed dipping the crisp chips into the tartare sauce. Are you a dipper? It also came with a fresh salad topped with feta cheese and a lovely light dressing. This meal was just what she had hoped for!
Sir, who is quite partial to steak and seafood, wanted both so he had the Surf and Turf. He chose a side of veggies and a Diane sauce to go with his steak. The Surf and Turf is a Darling Downs 300 gm MSA 120 day grain fed Sirloin topped with panko crumbed prawns with chips. It was cooked to how Sir liked it - medium rare. The prawns went well and it all combined nicely into a big tasty meal!
Duchess does love a pizza so she went with the BBQ Chicken pizza. It had chicken breast, roasted (whole) mushrooms, Spanish onions, oregano, mozzarella and BBQ sauce. This visually appetising pizza tasted really good. Great combinations that went well together. Duchess enjoyed her pizza.
Duke is a fan of the ‘Schnitty’ so he had the Schnitty Parmigiana. This lovely tasting schnitzel was hand crumbed chicken breast topped with Napoletana sauce, mozzarella and chips. The Napoletana sauce and mozzarella is a staple fave and we can see why this is a popular dish.
The food at Rashays is substantial, fresh and there’s so much variety. The prices are really good too! Spend some time looking at the menu. There’s lots there with something for everyone.
Sir and Mlady, Duke and Duchess dined as guests of Rashays Top Ryde. Thank you to Tatiana and thanks also to Claire for looking after us all on the night.
