Saltie
80 Devonshire St
Surry Hills, Sydney
You could be forgiven for walking past Saltie’s as the cafe scene in Sydney is saturated with great choices. Upon first glance it’s easy to think that is your run off the mill takeaway coffee joint, but this not so hidden gem has so much more to offer. With its rustic seaside boutique styling and simple menu, we were keen to begin.
The Viscount ordered the super bowl and an Iced Mocha, and The Viscountess ordered the Saltie’s fried chicken burger along with the Choc Brownie Milkshake. The Iced Mocha was a truly delicious and indulgent way to start this amazing culinary experience, The Choc Brownie Milkshake was also delicious and both drinks really set a high benchmark for the quality which we were to receive.
The Super bowl arrived first and smelt amazing. The crispy kale and avocado crema where the standouts of this truly delectable dish, topped with a runny yoked fried egg, was borderline perfection.
We had high hopes for the Saltie’s fried chicken burger and it did not disappoint. The chicken was crispy, juicy and spiced perfectly, and it was really well balanced with the coleslaw and the garlic sauce.
The Viscount and Viscountess were so impressed with the food that they have since been back and were just as impressed with Saltie’s the second time around.
Saltie’s is going to be one of those places that soon enough will have a queue every weekend morning, and we’ll be able to say we went there before it was mainstream.
A big thank you to the team at Saltie’s for hosting us and showcasing their incredible food. Special thanks to Claire and April from CPM Online Marketing for arranging this visit.
