Sweet Belem Cake Boutique
35B Canterbury Rd
Petersham, Sydney
Heading off for a spot of retail therapy, we decided to have a bit of a European breakfast - coffee and pastries.
We both love Portuguese tarts and have been to Belem in Portugal to see what all the fuss is about at the place they originated from - Pasteis de Belem When we were there we certainly could both see (and taste) what the fuss was about. Incredibly amazing Portuguese tarts that tasted oh so good. Well these ones here at Sweet Belem were a walk down memory lane for us and our taste buds.
They serve a lot more than just Portuguese tarts here. In fact they have a really good range of different cakes and pastries on offer.
We also grabbed one of their house-made croissants while there too. This slightly fuller version of a traditional pastry had a lovely flaky outer and was very tasty with those buttery flavours we all love in a croissant.
Whilst this is a cake boutique it’s also a cafe as well - which means they serve coffee. They come in take away cups and Sir his usual skim flat white and Mlady, her weak soy cappuccino. We sat outside - they have a couple of tables there - and sipped these very nice coffees.
We’re palmier nuts too - well, Sir is - so he was excited to see some of these crispy sweet pastries piled up ready to have!
If you like pastries and cakes then this place has to be on your visit list.
We’re definitely going to return here to Sweet Belem. The Portuguese tarts alone are enough reason, but all the other goodies there are a great added extra!
