Yum Cha - one of our favourite pairings of words that immediately makes you think of steaming dumplings, fried crispy wontons and an array of other goodies. It's a meal of starters that invariably leads you to ordering and eating way more than you originally intended to - and yet still showing no remorse! While it has the lot, it's hard not to grab a few dumplings as the trolleys roll on by. We started with these tasty steamed dim sims and prawn dumplings. Both were hot, fresh and tasty.
This pork belly caught our eyes - all of our eyes in fact. It's a dish that some love and some don't. Fortunately we all love it so it was an easy choice - and a good one too. The crisp skin sat on top of tender juicy meat. Just what the doctor ordered!
More dumplings? Why not. These colourful varieties had scallops and also prawn and spinach - an all time favourite of ours. They didn't disappoint either. Just as well!
We do almost always seem to order salt and pepper calamari. This time it didn't come by so we grabbed this plate of crispy calamari. It was certainly tasty - but we missed not having the salt and pepper version.
You go in saying you'll have the steamed stuff - and then the crispy fried things start drifting by and your willpower drifts out the window. Both of these dishes were super crunchy on the outside and packed with prawns. We'd have both again - and in fact had seconds of both this time! Oink.
These pork buns often come in triangles. These longer versions were just as nice though - filled with hot sweet pork and sauce inside a crisp golden pastry.
Of course if you have space it's always appropriate to top it all off with some egg custard tarts and/or some mango pancakes. We did - of course. Where's that willpower ........
