Base N'Burger
6 Princes St
Turramurra, Sydney
New kid on the block, Base N' Burger, pitches a combo of pizza and burgers in a quiet part of Turramurra. Despite the location, they've quickly developed a good local following by offering substantial and tasty meals. We dropped in to try their offerings lateish one evening. As they stay open till around 10pm each night the late timeframe on a weeknight wasn't a problem. With the menu doubling as a placemat, make sure you check both sides before ordering.
As it was a burger kind of night we both went for burgers - as you do. First choice was the Kahuna Burger made from chargrilled chicken breast with tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise, bacon, burger cheese, pineapple and coconut chilli sauce. It was big, brassy and very tasty. The sauce added even more flavour and a bit of a kick too.
Second choice - the Big Jack Burger - hit the spot just as well. It had mayo, lettuce, burger cheese, long slice pickles, bacon, tomato and a 150g Angus beef patty with "Big Jack" sauce. This more traditional burger was another great meal.
The chips here are a must. We loved them. They were so crisp and crunchy while staying fluffy on the inside.
The popularity of Base N' Burger shows they've hit a spot in the market that needed hitting. They stay open for decent hours, serve good hearty and tasty food and the people there are genuinely nice. It's worth dropping by for a bite or some take away - which is very popular.
