LE MONDE CAFE | SURRY HILLS, SYDNEY

Le Monde Cafe
83 Foveaux St
Surry Hills, Sydney

In need of a well overdue catch up I was looking for a bright and easy spot for ladies to brunch, and Le Monde Cafe tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Surry Hills was perfect.

My friend and I arrived at around 10.30am and it while away from the hustle, it was definitely bustling with chatter. We were seated after a very short wait out front, which we didn’t mind as the morning sun was shining so it was nice to be in the fresh air.

The service was quick and we kicked off with a fresh squeezed juice each. Mine, an orange, apple, mint and ginger (perfect for a weekend pick me up), and my friend chose a watermelon and mint juice. Both were delightfully refreshing.

Musing over the four signature dishes we were interested to see such a vibrant array of ingredients used. From matcha hot cakes to confit pork belly with beetroot puree and orange sauce these were signature dishes with a twist of international flavour. Great to see new approaches being taken to create taste sensations.

My friend chose the more Aussie signature dish of crunchy potato rosti with smoked salmon (alternatively it can be accompanied with smokehouse bacon for the breakfast bacon lovers), sweet roasted cherry tomatoes, topped off with a perfectly poached egg with lava flowing egg yolk. The crisp bite of the sweet potato and carrot rosti was perfect for lapping up the runny egg yolk.

Wanting to keep it simple and classic myself, I ordered poached eggs on toast. Again, I was in awe at how perfect the eggs were cooked. With the addition of creamy avocado and grilled haloumi this dish was a good size for brunch and filled me up for the day.

There are other great classic options available too like eggs benedict and pear bircher muesli. And if you’re just stopping in for a quick coffee and bite, there are a great range of baked treats available too like cinnamon scrolls, banana bread and date scones.

And, really what brunch isn’t complete without coffee? We couldn’t come to Café Le Monde without trying their highly acclaimed 5 Senses Coffee, and mmmm it was bliss! No better way to start the day than with a lusciously brewed, aromatic, full-bodied coffee. So good we had to order another to go when we left J

Open for breakfast and lunch six days a week with great indoor seating and shaded curb side outdoor seating, Le Monde is your perfect next stop for breakfast, brunch or lunch and catch up’s with friends or family.
