Casa Ristorante Italiano
42/48 The Promenade
King St Wharf, Sydney
For a great meal with fantastic water views while you sit, relax and watch the world go by, Casa Ristorante Italiano ticks all these boxes and more! It’s a lovely spot for a leisurely lunch, a romantic dinner or even breakfast - yes they’re open for breakfasts on weekends!
We both love our Aperol Spritz, it’s so tangy and so appropriate with Italian food, but Sir thought he would try a variation on offer here. Mlady had the original Aperol Spritz and Sirs was Limoncello with Prosecco and soda water. Both drinks went down nicely and set the scene for the great meal that lay ahead.
Being partial to dips we started with dips that were served with wood fired pizza bread. The three delicious dips were homemade eggplant mousse, sun dried tomato and feta and an olive tapenade. They were beautifully flavoured dips and we were hard pressed picking a favourite. There was plenty of the lovely warm freshly baked pizza bread to scoop up the dips and Mlady even set some pizza bread aside to have with her main.
We decided to keep sharing with our two mains. We chose one each and Mlady picked a pasta and Sir - no surprises - went with a truffle pizza. It seemed a sensible mix for an Italian meal with both pasta and pizza!
The pasta was Ravioli All’ Aragosta which was filled with lobster, crab and prawns with a cherry tomato and spinach garnish all in a creamy Napolitana sauce. This looked amazing when it arrived and the aroma was incredible. The ravioli had plenty of that tasty seafood inside and that sauce was so flavoursome. Mlady was quick off the mark to scoop up that scrumptious sauce with her pizza bread. This really was one of the best ravioli’s with one of the best sauces she has had. Mlady thoroughly enjoyed this.
Sir’s choice, truffle prosciutto pizza, had aged prosciutto Parma, mushrooms, fior di latte cheese and truffle oil. This looked so good when it arrived - and tasted even better. There was plenty on the pizza too and with that truffle oil, Sir was in truffle heaven. The pizza base itself was lovely too. Sir really enjoyed this pizza.
We did manage to fit in dessert. Well to be honest, we were pretty full but just couldn’t resist it! It’s almost impossible to have Italian and not have tiramisu for dessert. This was yet another occasion when we had it and it was a great choice too. It was whisper light and had the lovely creamy coffee flavours we craved.
Mlady loves Nutella so we also went with the Nutella pizza that had fresh ricotta and crushed walnuts. How impressive was this! In the middle of the pizza on the plate was a serving of vanilla ice cream with strawberries and sprinkles. This very impressive dessert tasted so good. It was massive too so we could not eat it all - so of course we just had to take it home!
The food at Casa Ristorante Italiano is really good. It’s fresh, vibrant with great combinations and flavours and the servings are substantial. There is plenty on the menu to choose from so something for everyone. It’s such a great spot too with a lovely vibe and a great view out over Darling Harbour.
Sir and Mlady dined as guests as Casa Ristorante Italiano. Special thanks to Rita and Jason from LickYourPhone PR for arranging this very tasty visit.
