Ichi-Ban Boshi
Level 2 - The Galleries
500 George St
Sydney CBD
Ramen has always been quite popular but seems to have been going through even more of a surge in recent times. Ichi-Ban Boshi has been dishing this tasty broth up for many years in Sydney across its three restaurants, and we were here in the CBD to try it out.
To mix things up a bit, one meal was Ramen while the other was basically two starters. The first was chikuwa isobe-age - and mix of fish served deep fried in bamboo shaped cakes with a sprinkling of dried seaweed. It was certainly tasty, with subtle seafood flavours that arrived in a decent sized serving too.
Gyoza is almost a must have starter with Japanese meals so this was an even easier second choice. The serving of five was very tasty and again hearty for what was effectively another starter.
Then it was Ramen time. It’s fair to say they do a good Ramen here. The flavours are great and there is plenty in the bowl too. It’s such a satisfying and filling meal - and while you can eat it any time it certainly does work well on a cold day!
The melon soda was yet another great surprise. The fruity melon flavour was quite bold and made this drink so refreshing and tasty. Next time we’ll order this asap after arriving!
This is a busy place. Sometimes you need to queue to get in, but things move pretty quickly so it’s never a long wait. Even though it’s upstairs on a higher level in The Galleries this doesn’t deter people trecking here!
Ichi-ban Boshi really hits the mark. They’re hugely popular at lunchtime and after eating here it’s easy to see why. The food is tasty and filling and things move at a good pace here too!
