New Shanghai is down under Westfield Sydney. Its a nicely decorated place that has instant appeal. There’s no mistaking it’s an Asian restaurant but that’s what you want here.
Unsurprisingly, we started with cocktails. Sir being a rum fan had a lovely rum based cocktail - Green and Gold. This delicious cocktail was made with Tequila, white rum, Weis mango bar, mango, lime and coco Lopez. This was a very refreshing cocktail that had such great flavours. Sir thoroughly enjoyed it.
Mlady is a fan of Scotch and ginger and her cocktail ticked both these boxes. It was a Devilwood Penicillin. It consisted of Osmanthus Whiskey, lemon, honey and ginger syrup. This again was a very refreshing and delicious cocktail that also came with a succulent lychee. Yum! Mlady enjoyed her cocktail.
We started with Pork Bao. How deliciously light were these buns! Fill them up with flavoursome pork, cucumber and spring onion- Divine! A very tasty and substantial dish.
Dumplings, dumplings, oh how we love these. Steamed pork dumplings were next. How colourful were these! Great pork flavours and remember these yummy pork dumplings are encased in a soup - so we always eat each one in one mouthful. It’s an explosion of flavour.
Loving seafood, Salt and Pepper soft shell crab was a must. It certainly was a very tasty dish and massive too with plenty of Salt and Pepper soft shell crab! This was wonderfully soft on the inside and yet wonderfully crunchy on the outside. This was an amazing dish.
Choosing from the Chefs Recommendation Menu we had a beef dish - Black Pepper Wagyu Beef Sizzling Plate. Love that sizzle! Oh, and it had an amazing aroma! It was so tasty and ever so tender. We also loved the mushrooms and snow peas which were good for colour, crunch and taste. We thoroughly recommend this dish!
Just fitting in dessert, we decided to share one and Mango pudding was our choice. It had big juicy chunks of mango sitting in a cool refreshing mango flavoured pudding. This was such a great way to finish off a very scrumptious and substantial meal.
The food at New Shanghai is fresh and delicious and the servings are substantial. They have a great and diverse menu so something for everyone.
Sir and Mlady dined as guests of New Shanghai. Thank you to Zin for taking care of us on the night and chatting with us. Thanks also to Florence for looking after us. Special thanks to The Atticism for arranging this visit.
