Been to the Oxford Hotel lately? It’s been transformed into something quite special with more on the way. There are so many wonderful areas and nooks to sit, relax and enjoy a drink, a bite or a whole meal. We sat on a comfy lounge upstairs, took in the chilled vibe of this really relaxed area.
As we were in a hotel it seemed sensible to start with something to sip. It was a balmy night so we headed for the cocktails and Mlady had an Aperol and Sir had a Margarita.
Perusing both the two varied menu’s, which included a Chefs Special menu (mains), we were hard pressed on what to have. There were so many delicious dishes to choose from.
For our first entree, the garlic truffle & rosemary flat bread was a certainty. Sir loves all things truffle! When this arrived the aroma was incredible, mouth-wateringly incredible. The taste really was amazing with perfect subtle flavours on a delicately soft yet crunchy at the edges flat bread. This ticked all the boxes.
Next we had the salt and pepper prawns with chilli, coriander and aioli. This was another beautifully flavoured entree. The prawns were perfectly cooked and there were plenty of them. Dipping them in the aioli - so nice. Remember to squeeze the lemon over them for a lovely citrus tang.
Mlady enjoyed her drink so much that she had another one. Sir loves a cider, so his next drink was a Young Henry’s Cloudy Cider.
Mlady loves her burgers and decided on The Boss burger. It came with a side of chips which we have to say were beautifully seasoned too! This scrumptious burger was a Wagyu patty with lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, beetroot and burger sauce. This combination is pretty much her favourite! The Wagyu patty was cooked to perfection and the mouthwatering salad was fresh, crisp and vibrant - and the burger sauce was great too.
Sir had the 400gm Sirloin on the bone MSA Riverina NSW. The steaks come with a choice of two sides and sauce. These are - slaw, garden salad, creamy mashed potato, chips or seasonal vegetables. There are sauce choices too - mushroom, peppercorn, gravy, vegan mayo. Sir went traditional and had the garden salad and chips. He added the peppercorn sauce for a bit of bite. The presentation was a real wow factor! The sirloin was cooked medium rare as ordered and it tasted so good. Teamed with a fresh garden salad and those deliciously seasoned chips it was a great feed. Mlady sneakily dipped one of her chips into the peppercorn sauce too just to savour it.
The food at The Oxford Hotel is really good. It’s fresh and very tasty and the dishes are substantial. Their great varied menus offer something for everyone.
Sir and Mlady dined as guests of The Oxford Hotel and the Laundy Group. Big thank you to Sean (manager) for taking time from his busy schedule to chat with us. Thank you also to Maddie, Ted and Chris for looking after us on the night.
