Whirly Bird
84 Union St
Pyrmont, Sydney
Last Thursday we joined Whirly Bird to raise a glass to their first birthday! It was the start of a great night at an equally great venue. This place has a wonderful atmosphere.
We were greeted with a live band setting the scene for the festivities. Live music isn’t that common these days and it was so nice to see it here.
Heading to the bar, which was offering free-flowing drinks, we grabbed a glass of the signature drink of the night. Dubbed a “South Side”, the mixture of Gin, lime and mint was the perfect freshener to start the night.
The food was served canape-style and featured some of the most popular items off their menu.
First we were offered fried cauliflower, with Pita bread and hummus dip. A great example of the vegan and vegetarian dishes available here.
Secondly, we had mini version of their “Clean burger”. A grilled chicken burger with pineapple and pickled cucumber on a sweet brioche bun (we had to have two of these!).
Finally, we had chicken skewers, drizzled with a sweet sauce and sesame seeds. We also had to have another South Side!
The venue is known as “Whirly Bird” from Sunday – Friday, however, on Saturday’s it transforms into “Birdcage”, where it offers the best in Sydney’s burlesque clubs. Once the live band were finished, guests on the night were offered a sneak peak of this with a show!
After this, night owls could dance until the early morning thanks to the DJ.
Thank you to everyone at Whirly Bird for a wonderful time, and the happiest of birthdays to you!
