Verace Pizzeria

We both love Italian - always have in fact. We’d heard of Verace Pizzeria in Sydney - the sister venue to their place in Melbourne which actually won Best Pizza in the World for their Margherita pizza. Their menu showed they do much more than just outstanding pizza though. We’d been wanting to visit them for a while and struggled to fit it in with everything else. Here was our chance and we grabbed it!
Italian means a nice red - well it usually does for us. We spotted a nice Sangiovese, a lovely drop, so we each had a glass. It turned out to be a good choice. The chilli oil arrived around then too - ready for us to apply as much or as little as we wanted on our dishes. In Sirs case it was liberal!
We obviously had to try their Margherita pizza. Best in the World is quite a title, especially outside Italy! It’s a simple pizza so there’s nowhere to hide if it isn’t quite right. This was delicious. It arrived hot and was oh so tasty. The crust was soft inside with a lovely crispness at the edges from their woodfired oven. We certainly enjoyed this.
As mentioned - they do pasta here too. Even though they have the word Pizzeria in the name, it is an Italian restaurant after all and they have some great “other dishes”. The aroma of the Spaghetti Allo Scoglio was divine. Eating this was even better. The spaghetti was beautifully cooked and the seafood was scrumptious! We love pasta and seafood and this didn’t disappoint at all.
These two mouth-watering dishes were shared and they were substantial meals. This turned out to be a place well worth visiting. It’s a little isolated as it sits under a Kennard’s storage facility and not next to any other restaurants or shops. It’s well worth finding though so go looking! There are a few tables inside but more space outside - which is under cover and sheltered from the weather anyway. Try it for yourself.
