Jin’s Teahouse Bar & Restaurant

You certainly get more than just dinner here. There’s a show too with the amazing cocktails at Jin’s Teahouse Bar & Restaurant. You really must grab one to start your meal. Some of them have so much theatrics it’s spectacular.
Sir loves rum so he started his meal with a rum based cocktail that was called ‘This drink is on fire’. True to it’s description, you certainly witness this. It’s a very visually impressive cocktail when it is ‘lit’ with sparks flying making it resemble a sparkler firework. Sir really enjoyed the taste too after the show.
Mlady’s cocktail was equally visually impressive. She went with ‘Cloud on the floor’. You really have to see it to believe it as it does look like a cloud on the floor. Before the drink is poured there is a splashing of vapor on the floor creating a circular cloud that moves outward till it dissipates. It’s mesmerising. The very tasty cocktail that was then served was made up of gin luxardo maraschino, orange liqueur, lemon and violet syrup. It’s a drink well worth having - but get your camera’s ready first!
We do love our dumplings and thought we would try the coloured ones. They were rainbow pork xiao long bao and arrived in one of those cute bamboo steamer baskets. Natural colouring from vegetables is used to give them their colour. They looked very good and tasted just as good. The delicious soup inside is encased by the soft, light dumplings which is so incredibly ‘more-ish’. Don’t forget to dip them in the accompanying sauce!
Sausages are a big fave of ours, especially Mlady, so we just had to try Jin’s homemade sausage. We loved the use of Flora with dishes as this adds a lovely vibrancy to each meal. There was plenty of sausage and It was cooked perfectly. It all had nice flavours and with the dipping sauce - very very nice. We also kept the dipping sauce from the dumplings and dipped some of the sausage in this too. Why not!
Deciding on a seafood dish next, we went with the Singapore chilli Lobster tail. This was made up of homemade Singapore chilli sauce, onion, capsicum and egg. Oh Wow! Seriously how good was this! We loved the vibrant colour and of course, loved the amazing taste of the chilli gravy. It had incredible flavours and there was plenty of lobster meat there too. If you love Singapore chilli mud crab (and we do), you will love this dish!
We did have a small boiled rice which was so perfect to soak up that amazing homemade Singapore chilli sauce. In fact we very nearly ordered a second!
We then tried a meat dish next and chose a beef dish. We had the Truffle (Sir’s favourite) diced Wagyu (250g), truffle mushroom sauce, M6+Wagyu, asparagus and King oyster mushroom. This really was a big bold flavoured dish. The Wagyu was perfectly cooked, soft and tender. We really liked the crunchiness of the asparagus too. The King oyster mushroom was nice and soft and everything combined so well together.
As well as the cocktail each, we both had a lovely glass of red. The 2017 Paxton MV Shiraz from McLaren Vale SA. This went really well our meal.
Sharing a dessert, we had the Love in the House. It was made up of cream, white chocolate, cream cheese, strawberry jam, eggs, flour and butter. This dessert was as pretty as a picture. It’s wonderfully tasting consistency we likened to cheesecake. It had such lovely flavours that we both enjoyed.
The food at Jin’s Teahouse Bar & Restaurant is fresh, vibrant and tastes really good. They are taking traditional things and making them unique. While you come here for dinner and drinks you leave witnessing an experience too! It’s something you’ll want to come back to as well.
Sir and Mlady dined as guests of Jin’s Teahouse Bar & Restaurant. Special Thank to Santo for looking after us and taking time out from his busy schedule to chat with us. Thanks also to Florence for taking care of us on the night.
