Blake St Kitchen sits inside the Kogarah Clubhouse but also opens out directly on to the street outside. It does this because it opens early for breakfast as well before the rest of the club is ready for business. It’s a great idea as it lets the venue still operate without having to open the entire club.
We eyed one of the daily specials, three tacos and a beer and decided to have these for a shared entrée. They consisted of beef, chicken and avocado salsa. This turned out to be a really good cross section and the taste of each was fresh and flavoursome. We both enjoyed these. The Mexican tekate beer was tasty too and went well and having the lot on the menu for a mere $10 is such a bargain!
Mlady went with a ‘schnitty’ - schnitzel, chips and salad. She is quite partial to vinegar with her chips and this was willingly supplied. A good schnitty and chips with vinegar made for a very tasty meal. This lovely schnitzel was big, golden and tender and juicy inside. They do them well here and it’s understandably popular.
Sir chose the Seafood Bowl for his main. This had a real WOW factor! Where to start? It had so much on it. It had a grilled fish fillet, a battered fish fillet, grilled prawns, prawn cutlets, crab claws, calamari rings, crumbed scallops and salt and pepper calamari. It also had a tasty serving of chips and a side of salad. This really was a great looking dish and so tasty too. Did we mention - again - that it was also massive!
We did fit in dessert. Mlady had the Super Sundae which after her substantial meal, nicely completed her feast. It was a big bowl filled with ice cream, drizzled with topping and garnished with strawberries and a biscuit.
Sir went with the delicious Creme Brûlée. This had a lightly crisped toffee top which shattered as you gently cut your spoon through. Underneath a scrumptious centre was revealed. He chose this dessert thinking it would be smallish - but discovered it was big enough for two people! It was a lovely brûlée too.
Blake St Kitchen is a pleasant space too. It has a lovely relaxed vibe that works well for families, couples and every other combination too.
Club food has come a long way in recent years and Blake St Kitchen is leading the charge. They do big tasty servings here that will satisfy any palate. Service is friendly and efficient making the whole experience so good.
It’s also well worth having a drink beforehand in The Clubhouse Bar. Have a look (here) to check it out.
Sir and Mlady dined as guests of Kogarah Clubhouse. Special thanks to Pendulum Communications for arranging this visit.
