Donut Bomb is an inviting eatery in the unlikeliest of places - a bright yellow shipping container in the parking lot of The Grove Homemaker Centre in Liverpool.
On arrival, we were warned to leave our diets at the door, and that we did!
We decided to go both savoury and sweet, and were definitely treated to the best of both worlds!
We opted for the SFC Lemongrass Bomb, a milky burger bun loaded with juicy southern style fried chicken, American cheese, lime mayo, lemongrass sweet sauce and lettuce. It was succulent and creamy, and the lemongrass sweet sauce was a perfectly balanced sweet and aromatic addition.
The burger was topped with a sweet and sour pickle, and served with a side of crinkle cut fries and crisp homemade coleslaw.
We chose a classic orange juice to pair with our savoury dish which came topped with mixed fruits and fresh mint.
We were completely intrigued by the “Doffles” on the menu and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try them. We opted for the Fruity Pav toppings and were very impressed by what was brought to the table. We discovered that Doffles are cinnamon donut waffles - dense yet fluffy, filling and satisfying! Our topping selection featured smashed meringue, mixed fruit, passionfruit creme, chocolate shards and vanilla gelato. Hello sugar high!
We also just had to try a Strawberry Loaded Shake because, well, why not? And “loaded” it was - three scoops on strawberry gelato, fresh strawberries, cream, chocolate, donut balls and a biscuit rim. This was a whole dessert in a cup and we couldn’t get enough!.
Our entire experience at Donut Bomb was absolutely fun-filled. We really enjoyed the relaxed vibe, and definitely loved the vibrant colour and novelty of every dish!
