Taste of Shanghai is a name that’s well known across Sydney for very good reasons and their Lillong brand is rapidly heading the same way. We love their dumplings but also that they have plenty of other choices too. If you like both, you don’t need to decide until you’re there.
We started with a serving of Xiao Long Bao. These tasty treats were delicious with their soup and meaty filling exploding once bitten. They certainly are a mouthful of flavour. Here they come in a generous serving of eight pieces too.
Sticking with the dumpling theme a bit longer we then had a big plate of pork and chive dumplings. These arrived quickly and hot in an even bigger serving of twelve. The large servings make it easy to share but if there are only two of you it means you have to choose your dishes carefully because they’re so big!
Of course dinner means some drinks. Mlady had a red on this occasion while Sir had a mojito. Both were nicely done and arrived quickly.
We do like some crispy food in the mix so we chose the Shanghai crispy spring rolls. We’re quite partial to a good spiring roll to and these were nice ones. They arrived hot, golden and crisp - just as they should!
Our love of Peking duck pancakes saw us eyeing off the Szechuan style shredded pork. What’s the connection you ask? Well with this dish you also have the option of ordering a serving of pancakes too. We did this of course. You then simply heap a pile of the shredded pork into pancakes and eat them like Peking duck. It was fun, filling and very tasty.
We left Lillong By Taste Of Shanghai very satisfied and very full. The food is great. The service was fast and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. It ticks all the boxes.
